Itinerary

Your Easter journey begins in Luxor, where you'll meet with a private Egyptologist and settle into your Nile Cruise before discovering its East Bank temples.

📍 Karnak Temple

A vast complex that served as the religious center of the New Kingdom, built between 1971 BC and 30 BC, dedicated to Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. It’s the largest temple ever constructed in ancient Egypt.

📍 Luxor Temple

This stunning temple, dedicated to the concept of kingship renewal and constructed around 1400 BC, makes for a fitting site to visit during Easter—a season of rebirth.

End your first day with dinner onboard the cruise, sailing down the Nile as you enjoy the view.

Meals: Breakfast • Lunch • Dinner | Overnight: Onboard the Nile Cruise.

Begin your day with breakfast onboard and then proceed to the western side of Luxor, where you can find some of the most remarkable burial grounds in Egypt.

📍 Valley of the Kings

A royal burial ground for pharaohs of the New Kingdom (1570–1050 BC), including the famous tomb of King Tutankhamun. These tombs reflect the Egyptians' belief in the afterlife.

📍 Hatshepsut Temple

A mortuary temple dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most powerful female pharaohs, showcasing grand architecture nestled into the cliffs.

📍 Colossi of Memnon

Two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, standing 18 meters high, which have stood since 1350 BC, guarding the entrance to his mortuary temple.

Sail toward Edfu and Esna in the evening, enjoying dinner onboard.

Meals: Breakfast • Lunch • Dinner | Overnight: Onboard the Nile Cruise.

After breakfast, the cruise sails again on the Nile with you on board to visit more ancient temples along the banks of the river.

📍 Temple of Edfu

Dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god of protection and war, this temple is one of the best-preserved in Egypt, built during the Ptolemaic period between 237 and 57 BC.

📍 Temple of Kom Ombo

A unique temple dedicated to two gods—Haroeris (Horus the Elder) and Sobek, the crocodile god. Built between 180–47 BC, it highlights ancient Egypt’s advancements in medicine and astronomy.

Enjoy dinner onboard as you take in the beauty of the Nile and its surroundings under the evening sky.

Meals: Breakfast • Lunch • Dinner | Overnight: Onboard the Nile Cruise.

Today, after breakfast, you’ll explore the incredible sites of Aswan, where the Nile meets Nubia, rich in both ancient and modern wonders.

📍 Aswan High Dam

A modern marvel completed in the 1960s, this dam revolutionized Egypt’s economy by controlling the Nile’s flooding and generating hydroelectric power.

📍 Unfinished Obelisk

At 42 meters tall and weighing over 1,000 tons, this massive monument, commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut, was abandoned during construction when a crack appeared.

📍 Temple of Philae

A stunning temple complex dedicated to the goddess Isis, built during the Ptolemaic era. It tells the story of Isis and Osiris, gods associated with rebirth—a fitting theme for Easter.

Return to your cruise for a last night onboard, reminiscing about the incredible sights you’ve experienced.

Meals: Breakfast • Lunch • Dinner | Overnight: Onboard the Nile Cruise.

After a relaxing breakfast onboard, it’s time to bid farewell to your Nile Cruise. We’ll transfer you to Aswan International Airport for your flight home, leaving you with memories of Egypt’s timeless beauty and the joy of celebrating Easter in the land of the Pharaohs.

Meals: Breakfast.

Night Cairo tour with Respect Egypt Tours

Feb 2026 • Friends

We had the absolute best experience with our guide, Reda. From the very beginning, she was warm, organized, and incredibly knowledgeable. She brought so much depth and context to everything we saw, but explained it in a way that was engaging and easy to understand, not overwhelming. Reda struck the perfect balance between professional and personable. She made us feel safe, taken care of, and genuinely excited to be there. You could tell she truly loves what she does, and that passion made the entire experience unforgettable. She was attentive to our questions, mindful of our pace, and always one step ahead, whether it was navigating crowds, sharing historical insight, or making sure we were comfortable. Having her as our guide elevated the entire trip. If you get the chance to tour with Reda, take it. She was simply great.

A great guide working for a great tour company

The pre-tour customer service support was the best I’ve experienced for a day trip in a dozen years of travel – highly responsive and clear – including accommodation of my late modification to the itinerary. My thanks to Nada. My guide on a private tour to the GEM and Old Cairo Museum, Laila, is young but knows her subject matter and explains things well. Often with day trip guides you can tell that they know the script but are less comfortable with broader or deeper questions. That is not true of Laila. She has put in the homework needed to know Egypt’s extensive history. She really knows her way around both museums, too, which helped maximize my time. And she has a friendly, casual style that makes her comfortable to be with for a full day. I would not hesitate to request her for another tour. Our driver, Ayman, was excellent. He called me at the hotel the day before the tour to confirm the pick up time. I’ve never had that happen on any other tour. It was a nice touch. On the drive he was good at pointing out local sections of Cairo and landmarks, and was deft at getting off the main road and cutting through a residential section to pick up our guide (it was interesting to see neighborhoods up close).

Great trip !!

Our group of four had an excellent visit to Egypt in mid January, thanks to Respect Egypt Tours. We had built a custom tour for four family members to pick us up at the airport, secure visas, get around Cairo and Luxor, take us to all the must-see sites, and generally babysit us. This tour company exceeded our expectations. Our guides were Wael in Cairo and Ahmad in Luxor, both skilled, knowledgeable and very friendly. The Respect Egypt Tour coordinator, Nada, was more attentive before and during the tour than any I have ever worked with. We highly recommend this company to all who want some hands on when they visit Egypt.

Have a Question?

Yes, Easter is celebrated in Egypt, particularly by the Coptic Orthodox Christian community, which is one of the oldest Christian communities in the world. Easter is a significant religious holiday, and celebrations include church services, family gatherings, and traditional meals.

Egyptians celebrate Easter with a variety of traditional foods, including:

  • Feseekh: A fermented, salted fish dish often eaten during Easter.
  • Colored eggs: Symbolizing new life and resurrection.
  • Kahk: Sweet cookies filled with nuts or dates, often enjoyed during festive occasions.
  • Lamb dishes: Roasted lamb is a common Easter meal.

In Egypt, Easter is commonly referred to as "Sham El-Nessim" (which means "smelling the breeze"). This ancient spring festival is celebrated on the Monday following Easter Sunday by both Christians and Muslims, marking the beginning of spring.

The main difference lies in the calendars used to determine the date:

  • Western Easter (Catholic and Protestant) is based on the Gregorian calendar.
  • Orthodox Easter is based on the Julian calendar, which often results in a different date. Additionally, Orthodox Easter traditions may include unique rituals and fasting periods.

No, in 2025, Orthodox Easter and Catholic Easter will not fall on the same day. Orthodox Easter will be celebrated later than Catholic Easter due to the differences in the calendars used to calculate the date.

Yes, the tour includes visits to local markets and bazaars, such as Khan El Khalili in Cairo, where you can shop for souvenirs, spices, and traditional crafts.
